While I was running around SXSW in Austin last week the Manitoba Music Party, showcasing some of Canada's finest acts, was high on my priority list. There I got to see Canadian band Royal Canoe for the second time. I saw the indie rock band play an acoustic set last year in Austin, but this time the group was full band and had another full year of playing music and touring under their belts. The progression was so impressive. They went from great to seriously, really great!
Royal Canoe has an incredibly unique sound. Their shows are super high energy and their music and lyrics are surprising... like they were written by a band of rock 'n roll mad scientists. Plus, they have two drummers which I love!
